Anti-Communist Movement

Havana, Cuba — August 9, 2026. One of our brothers in the struggle, a member of the Anticommunist Movement and Defenders of Freedom (MADL), recorded and posted a harrowing testimony just hours after being intercepted by Cuban State Security. From MADL we amplify his voice: what he denounces cannot be buried in silence.

What he denounces, in his own words

According to his testimony, that same morning he was cycling to the bank in El Cotorro —because the one in his own neighborhood, Cuatro Caminos del Cotorro, had no cash— when, almost there, several plainclothes agents intercepted him:

  • They showed him a pistol and forced him into a vehicle.
  • They threatened his life and threatened to take him from his children: “you won’t see the light of day again,” “you won’t see your children again.”
  • They interrogated him and accused him of belonging to a “terrorist movement.”

He answered with what MADL states publicly: the movement has never planted a single bomb, nor kidnapped or threatened anyone’s family —unlike those now harassing him—; its only activity is to denounce the regime’s atrocities and its failure before a people exhausted by blackouts and shortages. He said he could not even withdraw his money, and that tomorrow is his children’s birthday — a day he fears he may not be there for.

In his testimony he frames the harassment as retaliation: international pressure on the regime —he explicitly names U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the American government— has the repressive organs “driven mad,” and “the chain breaks at its weakest link.” He closes with a call to the Cuban people: freedom will not come from outside, but from Cubans themselves.

MADL’s position

“We hold the Cuban regime and its repressive organs responsible for any aggression, arbitrary detention, disappearance, intimidation, reprisal, or harm our brother may suffer, if it is related to his activism and to the events he denounces today. Let it be on record. Let it be documented. Let no one say tomorrow that they were not warned.”

To our brother we say: you are not alone. Your denunciation is our denunciation too. We demand that his physical integrity, his safety, and his fundamental rights be respected.

The persecution of those who peacefully confront Cuban communism cannot be normalized. We will denounce every threat, every act of intimidation, and every attempt to silence those who have chosen to fight for a free Cuba.

📢 If anything happens to him, the world has already been warned.
