Anti-Communist Movement

On October 17, 2024, the Anticommunist Movement and Defenders of Freedom convened a mobilization in front of the White House. Under a cloudy sky, a group of people, mostly adults and many dressed in white, gathered to raise their voices in defense of freedom and in rejection of communism, demanding respect for fundamental rights.

With Cuban flags waving and signs held high, the demonstrators expressed clear demands. Messages like “CUBA LIBRE” and “WE DEMAND THE RESTORATION OF THE 1940 CONSTITUTION” intertwined with the cries of “Down with communism” and “Justice and freedom” seen in the video. Concerns about the immigration status of Cubans were also visible, with posters reminding: “WE FLED A DICTATORSHIP” and “CUBANS WITH I-220A DESERVE ADJUSTMENT TOO”. Despite the background music, the unity and determination of those present were palpable, as they raised their arms in support and chanted collective slogans.

This mobilization was a vibrant testament to the persistence in the fight for a free Cuba, uniting voices in the capital to demand respect for fundamental rights and a solution for those who have fled the dictatorship.
